Remote allows turning the unit on and off, setting the humidity threshold, setting an off timer, and turning on four UV leds on the sides of the unit that are probably there as an antibacterial - not sure. The unit is far from silent, with a constant fan noise while running. Quieter than a compressor driven dehumidifier, but not quiet enough for bedroom. I had it running for a few hours and it has collected around 100ml of water in the built-in water collection container. The unit also came with a plastic tube that can be used to drain water directly into sink or a bigger container. All in all, a pretty good unit that is not too loud.

firstly, this is NOT a purifier/sterilizer. there is NO filters. however, it IS a very GOOD dehumidifier with an ionizer built-in. it performs very well and displays temperature & humidity within a few digits accuracy. 6 hours in a 70% humid room gathered 1/2 cup of moisture and dropped to 55% (rainy weather). has a large tank with an auto shut-off 'float' switch. power consumption is relatively low and the noise output is comfortable (like a fan). nice and slim design BUT the display is in Mandarin only and also needs the remote to operate. power plug is foreign and came with a travel adaptor. i have only used it for a week, not long enough to judge quality and longevity. shipping took a week to leave China and then another week to traverse Australia. not too bad but not Priority as advertised. i highly recommend for a small/medium room 4m x 4m. ignore the purify / sterilize specs and it does everything it claims.
